When you want the best of care and rest for yourself, a loved one or a friend
Westwood House Residential Home is situated in the picturesque market town of Ashby de la Zouch. This splendid house is a Victorian 3-storey building set within an acre of land. We have our own secluded gardens to the front, side and rear of the property and ample parking for visitors.
The Home is conveniently placed within a short stroll of Ashby town centre, which ../includes a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops. The town has a medieval castle, museum and many other attractions, making it a popular town to visit.
Westwood is a really first class Home, where dedicated, highly motivated staff are committed to maintaining excellent care. We take enormous pride in welcoming you to Westwood where our skilled team of staff are in tune with the varying daily needs of each of our residents.
Our aim is to ensure that all our residents are able to receive the highest standards of care in a homely environment. Westwood House appreciates the intrinsic value of people and we respect each of our resident’s uniqueness and varying personal needs, to ensure maximum comfort, well being and happiness.
We provide lots of enjoyment and even more essentially, lots of tender loving care.
The range of accommodation consists mainly of single rooms, but there are companion rooms for those wishing to share. Residents are encouraged to bring their own possessions and furniture to make their room as homely as possible.
The Home normally accommodates residents on a long term basis, although some residents may be accepted for short term respite stays.
Throughout the whole of Westwood House, the co-ordination of colours in furnishings, carpets and fabrics helps to create a very pleasant ambiance. There are two large, welcoming lounges and a dining room with a seating area.
There is plenty to do to keep mind and body active. We have a keyboard in one of our lounges which the residents and their visitors enjoy playing and having a sing-along to.
Our staff are always delighted to help with the continuance of residents’ hobbies or with the learning of new ones and the staff happily play games and arrange activities with the residents in the afternoons.
We now enjoy regular visits from the Fozel theatre company, a monthly accordion player and many other events are arranged for the enjoyment of our residents.
Our experienced staff offer a wide variety of nutritionally balanced quality home cooked meals. We display our menus in advance and cater for all types of dietary needs. Meals are a leisurely experience so that our residents can eat at their own individual pace.
Breakfast is an individual daily choice, our residents can order anything from a glass of juice to a cooked breakfast and it is offered from the earliest time of rising to the latest.
Our 24hour staffing ensures that personal assistance is always available with washing, dressing, bathing and toilet needs. All rooms have a care call system.
The local General Practitioners visit the Home when required, as do the District Nurses. Care plans are prepared after consultation with the resident, family and carers and can be tailored to individual needs.
The Home is staffed in accordance with the Registering Authority. It is our policy to provide an exceptionally high quality of care, underpinned by our high standards of training to ensure that care and skills are kept at the highest level.
All medicines are administered by trained carers and are ordered on a GP’s prescription.
Laundry is undertaken by our staff and included in the Home fees. Basic mending is also included. All rooms are cleaned and serviced daily.
The Home is visited regularly by a qualified hairdresser at the resident’s cost. Hair cuts, washes, perms and sets are available.
Any newspapers or magazines can be delivered from our local newsagent at the resident’s cost.
We have a visiting NHS Chiropodist who attends every three months to attend to the resident’s feet where needed.
