Redmount Nursing and Residential Home is situated in the picturesque village of Buckfastleigh, well in the heart of the South West Devon Countryside but only a few minutes from the A38.

This splendid villa style residence occupies a particularly beautiful setting on the edge of Buckfastleigh, half a mile from the famous Buckfastleigh Abbey. A recent addition has been the outside decking area so the residents can take in the country air and sunshine.

The property is located approximately 17 miles to the south west of Exeter, 18 miles north east of Plymouth and 15 miles inland from Torquay. It is also conveniently situated within two minutes drive of the A38.

The Redmount is a really first class Home in the true sense of the word, where dedicated, highly qualified staff are committed to maintaining excellent care. We therefore take great pride in introducing you to our home where our skilled team of staff are in tune with the daily needs of each resident.

The service we provide

It is Redmount’s policy to provide the highest quality care in a homely environment.  The care is activated with input from the residents and their relatives and carers, the standards of which are aimed at the highest possible level.

Amenities

Redmount is registered with the South and West Devon Health Authority and Devon County Council as a Nursing and Residential Home.

The Home normally accommodates residents on a long term basis, although some residents may be accepted for short term respite stays.  The range of accommodation comprises of single and companion rooms, most with en-suite facilities. All rooms have a nurse call system, wash hand basins and other individual comforts.

There are several well appointed lounge areas, with televisions and two dining rooms one of which is a conservatory overlooking the fish pond and has far reaching views.  Library books and other appropriate diversions are provided and hobbies are encouraged by our Activities Coordinator. Residents are encouraged to have a place in the community and to become involved in events and group activities outside the Home, including shopping and sightseeing trips.

The aim of the Home is to provide a warm, happy and secure environment within which the privacy and independence of our residents is respected.

Services Provided

Personal Care

Our 24-hour staffing ensures that personal assistance is always available with washing, dressing, bathing and toilet needs.

The local General Practitioner visits the Home on a weekly basis; however, should the need arise, prompt attention from a doctor can be assured whenever necessary.  The Home offers 24 hour Nursing care by fully qualified nurses. Care Plans are prepared after consultation with the resident, family and carers and are individually tailored with residents’ needs being respected throughout.

Staffing

The Home is staffed in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Registering Authority and it is the policy of the Home to provide quality care, underpinned by quality training to ensure that care and skills are kept at the highest level, hence the Home being awarded with the Investors in People award for quality.

Medicines

All medicines are administered by trained nurses and are ordered on GP prescription.  All medicines are handed in on admission so that accurate records can be kept and the correct treatment continued.

Laundry

Laundry is included in the fee of the Home, however we do not undertake the washing of pure wool, hand knitted or thermalactyl garments.  Prior to admission all clothing should be clearly marked with woven sew-in labels to guard against loss. Basic mending is included in the fees.

Food

Special attention is given to the provision of well balanced home cooked meals and special diets are catered for. Menus are prepared in advance and are displayed for all to see. Our resident chef provides a wide and varied menu.

Hairdressing

The Home is visited by a qualified hairdresser once a week.  Hair cuts, washes, perms and sets are available and will be billed separately.

Newspapers

A selection of daily newspapers and some magazines are available. Any specific magazine or newspaper required but not provided by the Home can be delivered from our local newsagent at the resident’s cost.

Chiropody

We have a visiting Chiropodist who will attend to the residents’ feet where needed, but this service is billed separately and is not included in the fee.

Physiotherapy

As part of the care package, exercise and rehabilitation programmes are maintained by our own staff, consisting of movement to music, encouragement with mobility and independence. If the need arises, referral to the Physiotherapist will be made for intense treatment.

Domestic

All rooms are serviced and cleaned daily.

Visiting Hours

Friends, relatives and their children are welcome at any time.
